From the priest’s house to the carpenter’s home

This farmhouse on Rua Maial in Oza dos Ríos is far older than its current name. Before it became the village carpenter’s home —since 1920— it was the parish priest’s residence; the granite chapel beside the garden is still there for that reason. Manuel, the carpenter, turned the house into O Lar do Carpinteiro: his workshop was here, and every piece of wood inside —stairs, cupboards, beams— was made by his own hands.

Even the crib still kept in the house was Maryluz’s cradle as a child, carved by Manuel for the family. After careful restoration, the old house opens as a rural house in A Coruña under the name the village always used: O Lar do Carpinteiro.
